Problem Statement

In the handicraft industry, artisans and customers face significant challenges in connecting and engaging effectively. Artisans struggle to gain visibility for their unique crafts and find it difficult to reach a wider audience, limiting their sales opportunities and growth potential. They also face obstacles in establishing a distinct brand identity and accessing the necessary support and resources for their businesses. On the other hand, customers encounter difficulties in discovering authentic handicrafts, with concerns about product authenticity, limited product options, inconsistent quality, and complex buying processes. These challenges create barriers for artisans to showcase their crafts and for customers to access diverse and reliable handicrafts.

Discover
  • User Research: Conducted surveys and in-depth user interviews with both artisans and customers to gather insights into their needs, pain points, and expectations.
  • Competitive Analysis: Analyzed existing handicraft marketplaces to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
Define
  • User Personas: Created detailed user personas representing artisans and customers to better understand their goals, motivations, and challenges.
  • Empathy Mapping: Developed empathy maps to gain a deeper understanding of the users' thoughts, feelings, actions, and pain points.

Ideate

  • Information Architecture: Organized the content and structure of the app to ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience.
Design
  • Wireframing: Created low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the basic layout and structure of the app's screens.
  • Prototyping: Developed interactive prototypes to test the usability and functionality of the design.
  • A/B Testing: Conducted A/B tests to compare different design variations and identify the most effective solutions.
  • Design System: Created a comprehensive design system, including color palettes, typography, and iconography, to ensure consistency throughout the app.
Test

Difficulties

The journey to create the Hearticraft App wasn't without its obstacles. One of the biggest challenges was securing user interviews with artisans due to their busy schedules and limited availability. To overcome this, we employed creative recruitment strategies, such as reaching out through artisan communities and online marketplaces.

Outcome
  • Simplified Buying Process: The Hearticraft App features an intuitive and user-friendly interface, making it easy for customers to browse products, add items to their cart, and complete purchases.  
  • Immersive AR Experience: The app's AR view screen allows customers to visualize how handicrafts would look in their own space, enhancing the shopping experience and reducing purchase anxiety.
  • Personalized Shopping: The product customization option empowers customers to personalize handicrafts according to their preferences, creating a unique and tailored shopping experience.
  • Seamless Onboarding: The app's onboarding process is designed to be quick and easy, guiding new users through the app's features and functionalities.
